Reading Time. Quickwrite #26: Concession. Write a refutation or concession to the following paragraph on Late Work. New Policy: No more late work in King’s English 11. (1) It is not fair to the students who turn their work in on time. (2) Students need to learn responsibility and accept the consequences of their actions. (3) When students turn in work late, it loses intrinsic value since the class has moved on to something else. (4) It can also encourage students to fall behind since it makes it difficult to keep up with current assignments. (5) Other students cannot receive immediate feedback when late work is accepted because it delays the return of on-time work. (6) Also, Mrs. King has a life outside of school and when work comes in late, it is irritating to have to go back and grade it. For these reasons, the policy should be changed immediately. Students wrote concession paragraphs for their homework DBQ. Start annotating the Free College DBQ. Final position paper on Free College DBQ will be due on Monday 2/22--done in lab.
